Leeds United moved a step closer to securing their Premier League status with a convincing 3-0 win over Wolves at Elland Road.

Following their win against Manchester United, they knew another three points would put them in a strong position, and they made sure of it.

James Justin opened the scoring in style with a brilliant bicycle kick in the 18th minute, and just two minutes later, Noah Okafor doubled the lead with a tidy finish from Brenden Aaronson’s cross.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin converted from the penalty spot in stoppage time after he was fouled to add a third to the Leeds scoreline at Elland Road.

With five games remaining, Leeds sit nine points clear of the relegation zone and look well on their way to staying up.

Rob Edwards is seething after the Leeds defeat

Wolves are on their way back down to the Championship, and while they have been better at home under Rob Edwards, their away form has been poor.

The Wolves manager has admitted that he feels angry and frustrated at the way they are continuing to concede goals away from home and the silly mistakes his players are committing.

He admitted that the errors his players are committing away from home are unpardonable.

“It really angers me, frustrates the lads and me, staff”, Edwards told reporters after the game.

“We’ve shot ourselves in the foot, again. We are where we are because of too many individual mistakes.

“It can happen. We can break that down; it’s not a first goal to concede. The second we give it away, we don’t close quickly enough. Poor to concede in that manner.

“Very similar to last week, to Anfield where it happened. Those moments away from home, you just can’t do it.”

Daniel Farke doesn’t want to, but he can relax

The Leeds manager has warned his players against complacency and does not want to relax until Leeds are mathematically safe this season.

However, it would take a monumental meltdown and a freak set of results for Leeds to go down from here.

With Premier League safety all but confirmed, Leeds and their fans can enjoy the final stretch of the season, and there is still plenty to look forward to.

Home fixtures against Burnley and Brighton are coming up, along with away trips to Bournemouth and Tottenham, before they close out the campaign at West Ham.

Attention now turns to Wembley, where Leeds will take on Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final later this month, a massive occasion they can fully focus on.

The prospect of staying up and pushing for an FA Cup final is more than enough to have Leeds supporters buzzing.
