Daniel Farke has usurped expectations at Leeds United this season, and it could get even better for him when his side take on Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final on Saturday.
There were question marks over Farke’s future at Leeds last year despite the German scoring a record 100 points in the Championship to win promotion to the Premier League.
The German was not seen as someone who could keep Leeds in the Premier League. However, his naysayers have been forced to U-turn with Leeds now more or less with five games left in the season.
Farke has won over the Leeds fans this season and could become a cult hero at Elland Road if his side beats Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley on Sunday.
Eddie Gray lavishes praise on an ‘underrated’ Daniel Farke
Daniel Farke has forced everyone to reassess his managerial ability this season with his performances for Leeds and has buried the ghost of his failures in the Premier League with Norwich City
Leeds legend Eddie Gray has claimed that the German is not appreciated enough for what he has done at Leeds and the way his team have managed to surpass expectations this season.
The former White insisted that Farke has done a tremendous job of improving the Leeds team and is hopeful that he remains at Elland Road for years to come.
Asked if he feels Farke is underrated, Gray said on talkSPORT: “I do.
“Daniel Farke has done a tremendous job for our football club with the way the team are playing and the position he has put us in.
“The players he has introduced to the side have all done really well.
“Daniel has done a great job, and long may it continue.”
He can cement his stay with Leeds fans at Wembley
Farke has already done something no Leeds manager has done in nearly four decades – take the club to the FA Cup semi-final.
He also became the first Leeds manager to oversee an away league win over Manchester United in 45 years this season when his side won 2-1 at Old Trafford last week.
His legendary status at Leeds could be confirmed if Leeds beat Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final and reach the final for the first time in more than five decades.
Farke has had his naysayers at Leeds since the day he arrived, but even they would have to shut up if Leeds reach the FA Cup final this season.
Don’t travel to Wembley on Saturday Kris, because the game is on Sunday!
