Leeds United are set to have another big summer window as they prepare for next season. The Whites avoided relegation last year, and are set for another season in the top flight.

Daniel Farke urged the board to invest on the pitch going into their second season.

A big example of that was in 2020; after Marcelo Bielsa kept the team up, he was not backed the following summer. This cost the team dearly as they were relegated a few seasons later.

TEAMtalk reported over a week ago that the club had four main targets going into the summer window.

Leeds are said to be after a goalkeeper, a left sided defender, a striker and a creative midfielder who can play out wide.

The goalkeeping situation at Elland Road could drastically change in the coming months – with multiple players out of contract. If Karl Darlow fails to sign a new deal, it could force the Whites to enter the market.

Leeds United lead race for star free agent

Gabriel Gudmundsson had a solid first season in England, and brought a lot of ball progression with defensive solidity.

However as the season went on, he got injured and there was a stark lack of a back up for him. The team will need another option who can fill in at wingback.

Going into the summer, it is believed that Harry Wilson is a major target for Leeds. He fits the profile of a creative midfielder who can also play out wide; 11 goals and eight assists in all competitions.

Per Leeds Live, Leeds United are the bookmaker’s favourite to sign Wilson ahead of Aston Villa.

Latest update on Harry Wilson’s future

Fulham announced that they had offered the midfielder a new contract after the end of the season.

As things stand, Harry Wilson has not made a decision with just two weeks left till his contract expires. This past week also saw the Welsh international linked with a move to Portugal.

Former Fulham boss Marco Silva was recently appointed Benfica head coach, with reports that he could take Wilson with him.

Leeds are said to be in the race, but it is very early in the summer and no concrete offer has been made. If he was signed, he would tick one box for the 49ers heading into next season.

Daniel Farke really needs a playmaker who can contribute goals and assists.

Harry Wilson is not a significant upgrade and at 29 not consistent with the declared policy of targeting a younger age group. It may seem petty but I remember the yellow card he got at Elland Road for a crude deliberate foul.
