Leeds United ended their last home game of the season in style with a win over Brighton. Heading into the game, Daniel Farke and his men were determined to get a result in front of their home fans.
Fabian Hurzeler and Brighton had European aspirations, and need a result to clinch their place in the table. It was unfortunate for them as they were beaten by a late goal from the hosts.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin capitalized on a poor back pass from Jan Paul van Hecke, dribbled past the keeper and slotted the ball into an empty net deep in added time. The celebrations in the stands were incredible after the goal went in.
Leeds can now look forward to their final game of the season away to West Ham.
Leeds United board ‘not happy’ with Daniel Farke
During the week, Leeds United boss Daniel Farke made it clear that he was interested in continuing as head coach of the club. But he also added that the ownership would need to match his ambition.
His words during Friday’s press conference stirred a bit of controversy around the club heading into Saturday’s game.
When discussing the win over Brighton after the match, Former Spurs boss Tim Sherwood revealed that he had heard some things behind the scenes at Elland Road.
”Yeah, I think he’s got to be careful with that one, because I’m still hearing whispers that they might not be happy with him.” Sherwood said on Sky Sports Soccer Special.
”So, I mean, it’s a huge football club. I think he’s done a wonderful job.
”Yeah and, look, football’s crazy. Regis Le Bris, as well. I’m hearing rumours about him. His job might not be [safe]. I mean, it’s incredible.
”But look, they’re just rumours. Of course they are, but sometimes there’s no smoke without fire. I find it extraordinary that two of them guys have done unbelievable jobs in this season. So, I think they’ve got to be careful.”

49ers should back Leeds boss
Obviously, making such comments about the club and the owners’ ambition might seem disruptive, but he was right. He mentioned that the club did not really build on Marcelo Bielsa’s success after promotion.
And now, Farke does not want to be in charge if the ownership are going to repeat what failed them years ago. Leeds need to invest in quality in this team heading into next season.
They need good players if they are to survive another campaign in the top flight. And if they do, they are well on their way to becoming a consistent Premier League side in the seasons to come.
