Leeds United have already reached the 40-point mark with four games still to play, and several of their key players have stepped up as standout performers in the Premier League this season.
Nathan Salt wrote for the Daily Mail and said: “The Brazilian arrived from Lyon on a four-year deal, with most Leeds United fans rejoicing that the days of Illan Meslier between the sticks were over. They had found their new No 1.
“But despite starting the campaign as No. 1, Daniel Farke axed Perri midway through the season in favour of Karl Darlow, and Perri has had to play second fiddle ever since, making do with cup games in 2026.
“He managed 16 fairly unimpressive appearances in the Premier League before Farke decided that if Leeds were to stay up, it wouldn’t be with Perri in goal. Pretty damning and ominous for his long-term prospects, less than a year into that four-year deal.”
He may have played his last game for Leeds
The Brazilian goalkeeper has not made a Premier League appearance since the end of December and has been decisively replaced by Karl Darlow.
Perri was instrumental in Leeds’ FA Cup run, producing shootout heroics against West Ham in the quarter-finals at the London Stadium.
However, Leeds’ defeat to Chelsea in the semi-final means the goalkeeper could have played his last game for Leeds.
The club want to bring in a new goalkeeper in the summer, and Perri seems like the one who may have to make way for a new signing.
Darlow is expected to be offered a new contract and is likely to be more ready to be number 2 to a new goalkeeper than Perri, who joined Leeds with the expectation of being number one.
