Leeds United went on a run of four league games without scoring just before the international break. Daniel Farke’s men only managed two points from that run.

And because of that there was some fear when the team returned to league action. West Ham and Forest picked up points before Leeds faced Manchester United at Old Trafford. Things were not looking great, with the team under pressure to get a result. There was concern among people at the club as to why the Whites had trouble finding the back of the net. Farke’s men actually failed to score league goal in the month of March.

With Noah Okafor having been out of the team during that run, Leeds struggled. Dominic Calvert-Lewin did not have someone to play off him which led to a lot of attacks stagnating. But the Switzerland international made an impactful return from the international break – his first game back saw him provide an assist in the FA Cup tie against West Ham.

And he scored a brace to push Leeds to a win away to Manchester United. The winger followed that up with a goal and an assist in the game against Wolves. His return played an important part in Leeds getting two wins and a draw in their three games in April.

As a result, Okafor has been nominated for Premier League Player of the Month for April. His four goal involvements in three games have seen him acknowledged as one of the league’s best in the past month. Noah Okafor will compete with West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen and Konstantinos Mavropanos, Manchester City’s Nico O’Reilly and Rayan Cherki , Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White, Brighton’s Pascal Groß, and Bournemouth’s Alex Scott.

Noah Okafor’s return has had a huge impact on the team

Without Okafor, Daniel Farke’s system struggled to produce goals. And even with Leeds creating big chances against Manchester City and Sunderland in that run, there was nobody to exploit it. Okafor is a great finisher, and his constant runs in behind defences make him a very good target in and around the box. He is deadly in transitions, which is why he has a great partnership with Dominic Calvert-Lewin. Daniel Farke will be glad to have the 25-year old over the past few games. His impact has been great, and hopefully he can keep performing till the end of the season.
