Leeds United have had a lot of success in the free agent market in recent years. This summer, this Whites added Harry Wilson.
The club saw the need to add an attacking spark to the team who had limited options. Wilson had 11 goals and eight assists last season, and was wanted in the summer.
Leeds swooped in and signed him ahead of big clubs,
The Whites also signed Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha last year. The transfers were not received well initially, with concerns over their injury records.
However, the two played a huge part in the club’s survival. Calvert-Lewin and Nmecha finished as two of the three top scorers for the team in all competitions.

Free agents join the club for free; not actually free but it is recorded as that on paper. Many come with a signing bonus and other clauses.
When Dominic Calvert-Lewin joined the club last year, reports went around that he was on a deal worth in excess of £100,000-a-week.
Former Everton scout Bryan King thinks the England striker could be earning even more than that.
“He left on a free transfer, played a lot of games for Everton. Played a lot of games, scored a lot of goals,” King told Football Insider.
“But obviously, he looked at the situation and thought that he’d come as far as he could with Everton Football Club. That’s how it seemed.
“And I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s on £200,000 a week now. It was a free transfer. You had to look at him and think, ‘well, he’s got to be a £25million footballer, hasn’t he?’
“So, in accordance with that kind of fee and the kind of wages that he’s going to negotiate, I’d imagine he’s on a very good wage. He seems to have got a new lease of life – scoring goals, he got back in the England squad, proving that he is a good footballer.”

Quality is expensive in the Premier League
Nothing is ever cheap if you are in the Premier League. The competition needs a lot of depth and quality if clubs are to survive.
One of the biggest reasons Leeds stayed up was because Calvert-Lewin was fit for most of the season and scored goals.
For 15 goals in all competitions, the striker definitely did not come for low wages.
Nobody will know if he really is on around £200,000 but the productivity he has been showing more than deserves a huge contract – he has justified the deal by the 49ers.
The unconfirmed rumour that DCL is on £200 k a week can be offset against his transfer value of £30 M plus so six years at £5 M a year looks like fair value for money in today’s market. We paid big money and accepted a similar fee for Georginio Rutter which in terms of sound economics is at least a break even situation.
he’s talking rubbish, let’s not forget DCL came with a dodgy injury past and no club in the world would offer any player in the region of 200k pw with his recent past record with injuries.all this bloke is doing is spread well unproven gossip to try and make Leeds Utd look like they are gullible with money.prove it instead of spreading unfounded tripe you clown.
