Leeds United made some big changes in their attack after being promoted. The Whites made wholesale changes in that part of the pitch as they prepared for top flight football.
Last season, the attack was mainly Joel Piroe, Manor Solomon, Dan James, Mateo Joseph and Wilfried Gnonto. This past summer, Solomon returned to his parent club and Mateo Joseph left on loan.
Going into the Premier League, the club wanted some attacking reinforcements.
So the Whites signed Noah Okafor, Lukas Nmecha and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Calvert-Lewin came into the team and immediately became the first choice striker. He ended this past campaign with 15 goals in all competitions, and was ranked among the top summer signings by The Athletic.
Nmecha was a solid backup, who did not look out of place in the team, and Noah Okafor’s run to end the season helped seal survival.
Leeds United striker fuels exit talk with latest statement
Joel Piroe ended up making 21 appearances and only playing a total of 641 minutes. His only goal came in the FA Cup against Norwich.
He was displaced by Dominic Calvert-Lewin despite being the top scorer for the club last season.
And Farke preferred Lukas Nmecha anytime he needed someone to depute for the England striker.
With the season over, Piroe took to Instagram to post after the final game of the season: ”Premier League football has always been a dream. Thanks to your support, we had a great season at the highest level. Grateful for everyone who stood by us throughout the season.”
In the comments of his post, some fans are taking his words a sign that he will leave the club this summer. Joel Piroe has been linked with an exit in the past few weeks.

Summer exit is the best way forward for the striker
This summer is the best time for Joel Piroe to leave the club. During the season, he reportedly was the subject of interest from Rangers among other European clubs.
Daniel Farke made it clear last season that the 26-year old was not a fit for how the team wanted to play.
And with the performances of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha this year, he has no way of returning to the Leeds United lineup.
Reports emerged earlier this year that the 49ers would be willing to splash the cash on a new center forward also, so Piroe’s future at Elland Road is currently up in the air.
