Leeds United fans were up in arms this summer over the club having an ”underwhelming” window. Man of them felt some areas in the team had not been addressed.
This was the case for the attack; which Daniel Farke addressed in pre-season press conferences.
Joel Piroe was last season’s top scorer, with Manor Solomon and Dan James also contributing. But heading into the Premier League, it was clear that some reinforcements were needed.
At the start of the summer, some big names like Rodrigo Muniz and Callum Wilson were linked. But the club failed to close those deals.
Fans were disappointed that there were no marquee signings up front. So when Leeds added Noah Okafor and Dominic Calvert-Lewin weeks before the deadline, man were not convinced.
Leeds United eye Premier League club’s top scorer
Despite all the concerns over the additions to the attack, Nmecha, Okafor and Calvert-Lewin were solid additions this season. It took Noah Okafor a while, but he improved in the second half of the season.
Lukas Nmecha was also a solid contributor and stepped in whenever Dominic Calvert-Lewin was absent. The former Everton man was the best signing of the three, scoring 15 goals this season.
Per Keith Wyness of Football Insider, Leeds United should be looking at Zian Flemming heading into next season. The Burnley striker scored 11 goals in just 29 appearances last season.
Now that the Clarets have been relegated, Flemming could be available on a cut-price deal. The 27-year old will not come cheap, as he is still under contract for the next three years.

Whites need backup to Calvert-Lewin next season
Dominic Calvert-Lewin featured in 35 games last season, which is a testament to how well the club’s medical department did. But he had some stretches where he looked fatigue.
And he even went on a goal drought at the start of the year. Lukas Nmecha has been a decent backup, but seven goals all season cannot really be relied on going forward.
Joel Piroe was out of favour this year, with multiple reports that he is set to leave the club in the coming months. So there is a clear need for another center forward to be added to the squad.
Zian Flemming could fit the bill; he is at a good age, and might not cost much to sign from Burnley. Regardless of who the sign, the 49ers need to get to work quickly.
