Leeds United took themselves six points clear of the relegation zone with their huge win over Manchester United on Monday night. Things were not looking great, but Daniel Farke’s side salvaged the weekend.

When West Ham and Nottingham Forest picked up points, the Whites had to look over their shoulders but Monday night’s win would have done them a world of good. Leeds now have seven games between now and the end of the season to save their Premier League status. Many tipped them to go down at the start of the season, but they have valiantly fought to reach this point and could still stay up.

Football finance expert explains £85m financial boost for Leeds United

With months to go until the summer, Leeds United’s financial status is also something the club is keenly monitoring. The club released their accounts for the 2024/25 season earlier this month. They recorded a £9 million increase in revenue from £128 million in 2023-24 to £137 million in their promotion-winning campaign.

2024/25
2024/25
Matchday Revenue £32 million
Broadcast Revenue £47 million
Commercial Revenue £58 million
Total Revenue £137 million

Football finance expert Stefan Borson expects Leeds United to post a new club-record revenue at Elland Road this season; with an expected £85 million boost.

“Even if they finish in the bottom three, you can probably add another £75m on top on broadcast compared to last season,” Borson said speaking to Football Insider.

“You’d think they’ve sharpened commercial, but let’s say they end up with another £10m, so you’re probably looking at £85m.

“Matchday would be broadly the same because there are more games in the Championship. Obviously, when you get promotion, everybody loves it and turns up, so it doesn’t really make that much difference whichever division you’re in if you win the Championship and get promotion.

“I suspect you’re looking at £85m, which will take them over £200m for this season.”

Premier League survival is key for the 49ers vision for the club

Seeing how much staying up in the Premier League can provide a financial boost for the club, the 49ers will be hoping Daniel Farke delivers. The ownership already have ambitious plans including the expansion of Elland Road, which will lead to more revenue. So if the club is to exceed their expectations in the short-term future, they must do everything in their power to remain in the English top flight. As things stand, they are six points clear of the relegation zone with seven more games to go.
