Leeds United fans will be excited after picking up a win at Old Trafford on Monday night. The Whites recorded their first league win away to Manchester United for the first time in over 40 years.

The away end was lively during an after the game, and Harry Gray was even spotted among the die-hard fans. Daniel Farke’s side had gotten just two points out of their last four games, and things were looking very bleak.

But on the night, Leeds played some of their best football this season. They completely outplayed Michael Carrick’s team in the first half, and created a lot of chances. The Whites completely killed off the game in the first 45 minutes and held on in the second half, even with the home side pulling one back. The focus after the match however, seemed to be the refereeing.

FA to make decision on Lisandro Martinez red card vs Leeds United

Even though Manchester United were outplayed, after the game, Michael Carrick focused on the refereeing rather than the fact that his team came out second best. He complained that the first goal should have been ruled out as Lenny Yoro was fouled in the build up. Carrick also complained about Lisandro Martinez getting sent off in the second half.

Martinez was booked for fouling Dominic Calvert-Lewin, but a VAR review showed the defender grabbing the Leeds man’s hair and the card changed to red. Manchester United were set to appeal the decision as reported on Tuesday. The appeal was set to be based on that Martinez did not pull with force, and was only challenging for the ball. But the latest from The Athletic indicates that there is little chance Lisandro Martinez’s three-game suspension will be overturned.

Manchester United fans will be furious

After the game, the major talking point was not how well Leeds played in the win, but was rather diverted to refereeing decisions. Manchester United fans still believe that Lisandro Martinez should not have been sent off, and that is was a ”soft” call. But by the rule book, it was a clear red card decision for pulling Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s hair. Those are the facts, and when the FA do not overturn the defender’s three-game ban, fans will continue to complain. Leeds United fans on the other hand, will still be celebrating their huge victory on Monday night.

He was sent off, quite rightly, for violent conduct. It’s the conduct that he has walked for, not how forceful it was. If he’d punched DCL in the face would how hard he did or didn’t do it be a defence worthy of appeal? Hair pull = red card.

So the FA haven’t made a decision and this article headline is just a blatant lie for clicks. I’m used to seeing misleading headlines to draw people in but have to say this is the first time I’ve seen blatant lies used. I’ll be blocking this site through newsnow going forward. You’re welcome.

You have obviously not read that many of Mr. Hemeng’s posts. Most are either inaccurate, or just fabricated to build advertising space. The content rarely matches the amazing headline.
