The focus at Leeds United these past few days seems to be on departures more than new signings. Things became a bit clearer after club chairman Paraag Marathe spoke on the club’s future.
He added that even with the ownership’s commitment to improving the team, it will be done logically. Leeds spent over £100 million last summer, but it could take a lot to reach that level again this time around.
Squad Cost Ratio (SCR) rules come into play soon, which will affect how clubs spend on their squad.
The Whites will inevitably have to sell some players before they attempt to make huge signings.
Max Wober has recently spoken about his future at Elland Road, hinting that he could be one of the first players to leave in the near future.
Leeds United star could leave this summer
Leeds United star Karl Darlow has been the subject of interest from Manchester United over the last week. The news emerged right around the end of the season, with the veteran’s contract up at the end of the month.
This week saw Leeds announce that they have given the Welsh international a new contract offer, but he is yet to put pen to paper.
Manchester United could increase their efforts to sign Darlow after a major development. Per Samuel Luckhurst, Karl Darlow is ‘expected’ to leave Elland Road this summer, which plays into the hands of Michael Carrick’s side.
The club are preparing to sell two of their goalkeepers this summer – Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir.
This would free up space for new signings. The report includes Karl Darlow who is said to be high among the list of potential targets.

This could be a problem for the 49ers
Michael Carrick’s side deciding to sell two of their first team goalkeepers inevitably means that they will make a push to sign Karl Darlow. The Whites could easily lose out in that race.
Manchester United can offer him a huge contract, and European football to be a backup to their first choice keeper.
The club would have to present a significant offer to convince him to stay. The prospect of being the first choice goalkeeper next season could also play a part in the 35-year old’s decision.
Leeds cannot afford to let Karl Darlow go, especially after announcing the departure of Illan Meslier.
This summer could see Lucas Perri as the only first team keeper under contract, which will be a huge problem to solve.
