Leeds United remain keen to strengthen their attack this summer as they look to lessen the reliance on Dominic Calvert-Lewin ahead of the new Premier League campaign.
The former Everton striker enjoyed an excellent first season at Elland Road, scoring 14 league goals to help Leeds secure their top-flight status. But whenever his form dipped, the lack of a reliable alternative became clear, with Daniel Farke’s side often struggling to find goals.
That is why bringing in another centre-forward remains a priority before the transfer window closes. Leeds are looking for a striker who can genuinely compete with Calvert-Lewin for a place in the starting XI, while also giving Farke the option of playing both together when the occasion calls for it.
The club also want greater depth in attack. Finding a forward capable of stepping in and leading the line whenever Calvert-Lewin is unavailable would ensure Leeds are not overly reliant on one player over the course of a demanding Premier League season.

Leeds United initiate contact for Chelsea star
The Whites want to sign a striker this summer despite their focus on adding a new goalkeeper and more attacking verve to their midfield.
Daniel Farke knows Leeds cannot afford to rely so heavily on Dominic Calvert-Lewin again next season and is keen to bring in someone who can share the goalscoring burden.
Leeds had their eyes on Carlos Espi, but Real Madrid signed the young Spanish forward in a quickfire deal last week.
The Whites are now looking at other options, and Chelsea forward Liam Delap has been heavily linked with a move to Elland Road.
According to Football Insider, Leeds have made initial enquiries into the possibility of signing the former Ipswich Town striker this summer.
Chelsea are looking to offload him, and Leeds are one of the several Premier League clubs who have their eyes on Delap.
However, Leeds are in no mood to meet Chelsea’s £40m asking price and will follow up on their initial enquiries if the number comes down.
Liam Delap would be an expensive gamble
The striker impressed for an Ipswich Town team that suffered relegation in the 2024/25 season, scoring 12 Premier League goals.
However, he struggled at Chelsea last term, scoring just once in the Premier League and was not a regular in the team.
Chelsea want to offload him, but are not willing to take a financial hit. Leeds have no business in offering big money for a player who scored just twice last season.
He would be a major gamble, given his wage demands and the transfer fee required, and Leeds should only consider signing him on loan later in the window.

Although he is the right type of mobile front man and at 23 he has a lot to prove the financial gamble is unaffordable. So far he has underachieved and we need a reliable upgrade.
