Leeds United have already confirmed Harry Wilson’s arrival on a free transfer and hope to add a few more new names to their squad before the end of the transfer window.

The Whites hope to progress in the Premier League next season after comfortably surviving in the previous campaign. However, survival will remain their priority in the upcoming term as well.

Teams in and around Leeds are also strengthening their squad, which will ramp up the pressure on Leeds’ recruitment team. However, one of their rivals, Newcastle, are in real trouble at the moment.

They have already lost Sandro Tonali to Tottenham for a deal worth up to ÂŁ100m, and are now facing the risk of losing club captain Bruno Guimaraes this summer.

Bruno Guimaraes tells Newcastle United he wants to leave

The Brazilian midfielder has been one of the most important players for Eddie Howe and was the first major signing of the club’s Saudi owners.

However, Guimaraes is said to be unhappy about the lack of progress and the seemingly backwards steps the club have taken in the last 18 months.

Arsenal are interested in signing the 28-year-old midfielder this summer, and the Gunners have had a verbal offer rejected by Newcastle.

However, according to the Daily Mail’s Craig Hope, Guimaraes has informed Newcastle that he wants to leave and join the Premier League champions this summer.

The Brazilian wants to challenge for the biggest honours and doesn’t believe he will achieve that by staying at St. James’ Park.

Newcastle do not want to sell him, but are aware that the player will be unhappy if his wish is not granted this summer.

Arsenal are yet to contact Newcastle in any official capacity, and while a second verbal offer has been discussed, no official talks are taking place.

Newcastle are likely to sell if the Gunners offer somewhere around ÂŁ75m for the club captain.

Leeds have a captain who is committed to Elland Road

There was growing speculation over Ethan Ampadu’s future at Leeds United after an outstanding Premier League campaign, particularly given that he was entering the final year of his contract.

However, Ampadu and Leeds shut down rumours of a departure by agreeing on a new long-term contract that secured his future at Elland Road.

A few big clubs in the Premier League showed an interest in the midfielder. However, the Welshman never considered the idea of leaving Leeds this summer.

He feels at home at Elland Road and believes in the project under Daniel Farke and the 49ers.

Leeds should feel lucky that they have a captain who is committed to the club while rivals struggle to hold on to their leaders.
