Leeds United are in the market for a goalkeeper in the ongoing summer transfer window as they seek to improve their squad ahead of the new season.

Karl Darlow impressed between the sticks in the latter half of last season. However, Leeds are still unsure whether he will sign a new deal amid interest from Manchester United.

Lucas Perri joined Leeds as the club’s number 1 goalkeeper last summer, but he lost his place midway through the campaign, and Leeds are open to offers for him.

Zion Suzuki remains one of Leeds United’s priority targets, and the club have not abandoned hope of signing the Parma goalkeeper despite his initial decision to reject a move to Elland Road.

Leeds United improve contract offer for Zion Suzuki

Zion Suzuki has emerged as a sought-after goalkeeper this summer, and his performances at the World Cup only further enhanced his reputation.

Leeds have been keen to bring him to Elland Road and have been working hard to reach an agreement with the Parma goalkeeper.

The goalkeeper recently turned down an offer from Leeds. However, the Whites are still in the race and are preparing to push harder for his signature.

According to sources speaking exclusively to The Leeds Press, the Yorkshire giants’ recent proposed offer includes a significant increase in wages for the goalkeeper.

It is understood the goalkeeper’s decision to reject Leeds was driven by the contract on offer rather than any lack of interest in a move to Elland Road.

Leeds have put a lucrative contract on the table in an effort to persuade the goalkeeper that a move to Elland Road is the right next step in his career.

The Whites hope that the new offer will financially outmuscle any proposal from Serie A giants Juventus this summer.

Suzuki is expected to leave Parma for a fee of ÂŁ26m, and Leeds are prepared to match that figure. The Whites are now aiming to get a nod of approval from the player before proceeding with negotiations.

Leeds need an answer from Karl Darlow soon

As things stand, Karl Darlow is not a Leeds United player as his contract expired at the end of June. However, he has an offer on his table to return to Elland Road this summer.

However, Manchester United and Everton are also interested in signing Darlow on a free transfer, and the goalkeeper has yet to decide on his future.

Leeds hope the Welshman will eventually sign a new deal to continue at Elland Road, but the delay in negotiations suggests that Darlow is unsure.

However, Leeds cannot afford to wait indefinitely and will be looking for a definitive answer from the goalkeeper over the next few days.

Leeds cannot make a concrete move to sign a new goalkeeper unless they have clarity on whether Darlow is staying or moving on this summer.
