Leeds United have been really particular about their spending since being promoted. The club have spent wisely since last year, addressing major squad problems.
Their summer window last year was good enough to add quality to the team that helped them survive relegation.
Leeds ended up snapping quality starters like Anton Stach, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Noah Okafor.
Despite spending over £100 million last summer, they never exceeded £20 million on one single player. Their recruitment targeted top leagues across Europe and worked out very well.
This time around, the 49ers have been much more willing to spend on quality.
Leeds United target’s agent holds talks with club after transfer links
One thing Leeds United did last year was identifying great market opportunities to capitalize on.
They got Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha on free transfers. Fans complained when the duo arrived, but they ended up combining for over 20 goals up front last season.
Noah Okafor was signed for around £18 million and was a key contributor to the campaign.
This summer has seen Leeds continue that trend; they snapped up Harry Wilson on a free transfer – the midfielder had 11 goals and eight assists for Fulham last season.
The club also pounced on Manchester City selling James Trafford.
Over the last few days, another huge opportunity has presented itself, as the Whites have been linked with AC Milan forward Rafael Leao.
It is believed that Leeds have a proposal for the winger, who would cost a club record fee. As of Friday, Gianluca Di Marzio is reporting that Leao’s agents have sat down with the Italian club.
The talks were over the player’s future, and his potential exit this summer.
Per the source, the two parties have now agreed that Leao can leave AC Milan for a fee between £34 and £43 million this summer.

Rafael Leao should be in the 49ers’ price range now
Initial reports suggested that the winger would be available for a fee in excess of £45 million.
But Friday’s update has seen the club adjust their asking price for the star winger.
Rafael Leao is now firmly in the price range for Leeds United and the 49ers in this summer window. It will not be out of the question as the club have already spent £34 million on Muharemovic and £40 million on Trafford.
Everything is down to Leeds to make their official proposal if they want to snap up the Portuguese international from AC Milan.
For that fee, he is definitely worth the gamble.
