Leeds United will no doubt have their eyes on the next transfer after the news this Thursday. The Athletic have confirmed that James Trafford has completed a medical ahead of his move.

There have been talks between Manchester City and Leeds for weeks over this transfer.

And now it is set to be completed in the coming hours. Daniel Farke’s side are back in England after their training camp in the US, where they played a few friendlies ahead of the new season.

Trafford’s deal is said to be in the region of £40 million with add-ons expected to raise the fee if fulfilled.

The 49ers can now move on to other targets, as reports tip them to add up to five more signings to the first team. In that list includes a backup goalkeeper, a fullback, two midfielders and a striker.

Even though Leeds United need to focus on arrivals going forward, they still need to create space in the squad.

The Whites have done a decent job this summer, offloading big contracts like Jack Harrison and Max Wober. Leeds also balanced their books with the sales of Pascal Struijk and Isaac Schmidt.

A few more players could leave before the window ends.

One of the main options will be Joe Gelhardt. The forward was left out of the squad list for the pre-season trip to the US, and is expected to leave Elland Road in this window.

According to Football Insider, Hull City have now registered their interest in signing the forward.

Gelhardt spent last season on loan with the Tigers, as he scored 14 goals in the Championship to help them make the play-offs. Hull won promotion to the Premier League after winning the play-off final.

Birmingham City interest remains

The Tigers are not the only club in the race for the Leeds forward.

It was confirmed that Birmingham City also have their eye on Joe Gelhardt this summer. This was confirmed by BBC Humberside Editor Mike, who revealed that the Championship side are one of the clubs talking to Gelhardt.

Football Insider also added new information that Birmingham are having internal talks over whether to make a move.

Hull will definitely have the upper hand in this race, as Joe Gelhardt has spent the last two seasons with the Tigers. Ultimately, it looks like the 24-year old will end his Elland Road stay this summer.
