Simon Jordan makes bold Leeds relegation claim: “King savers…”

Leeds United sit six points clear of the relegation zone going into the final six Premier League games of the season and are in a great position to survive.

The 2-1 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford changed the outlook on Leeds, and they are now being backed to secure Premier League safety as early as this weekend when they host Wolves at Elland Road.

A win this weekend could more or less guarantee Leeds one more season of Premier League football, given the form of the teams below them in the league table.

Leeds are expected to secure survival soon. However, Simon Jordan has pointed out that they could still play a big role in deciding which team go down to the Championship this season.

Simon Jordan lays out Leeds United’s role for the rest of the season

Leeds have six games left in the season, and in the run-in, they will take on Tottenham away from home and play West Ham on the last day of the campaign.

Simon Jordan believes Leeds can not only secure their spot in next season’s Premier League in the next few weeks but play ‘king savers’ by helping one of the teams below them.

He feels Nottingham Forest will do enough to survive, and it will be between West Ham and Spurs for the last relegation spot.

The former Crystal Palace owner pointed out that Leeds will play both before the end of the season, and those results could end up deciding their fate.

Jordan said on talkSPORT: “What they will also do, [Leeds] is not just perhaps secure their future. They might be pivotal in the outcomes of Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham. They’re playing those two teams as well.

“Leeds can be their own kingmakers [through survival] but can also be ‘king-savers’ of one of the other two big London clubs. Because I think it’s going to be one of the other two… Forest seemed to have pulled themselves together.

“So it’s gonna be West Ham or Spurs, and it looks now, as much as I might want it to be something different, it looks like it’s gonna be Spurs.”

A win over Wolves should secure safety

Daniel Farke had urged his Leeds players to come away from Old Trafford with something, and they more than delivered by claiming their first league win there in over 45 years.

The Leeds boss looked both relieved and pleased after the final whistle, with the result putting six points between them and the relegation zone with just six games remaining.

A win against Wolves at home this weekend could all but seal their Premier League survival.

Farke won’t be too fussed about the manner of the victory; those three points could prove crucial in shaping how their season ends.

With survival now within reach and an FA Cup semi-final still to look forward to, Leeds fans have plenty to be optimistic about heading into the final stretch.
