Leeds United came away from Old Trafford with a massive 2-1 victory over Manchester United on Monday night, moving six points clear of the relegation zone.
It was their first league win there in more than 45 years, and it could prove to be a defining moment in their bid to stay in the Premier League.
Noah Okafor was the standout, scoring twice in a dominant first-half performance as Leeds created more than enough chances to put the game to bed early.
The big result at Old Trafford also pushed Leeds towards a place of relative safety, and they are on the cusp of securing Premier League football for one more season.
Supercomputer slashes Leeds United’s relegation odds after Manchester United win
Leeds were without a win in six going into the game at Old Trafford and were just three points clear of the relegation zone.
They were being seen as a team that could get sucked into the bottom three at the end of the season due to their lack of goals and wins in recent games.
However, the win against Manchester United has completely flipped the outlook on Leeds, with just six games left in the Premier League.
Opta’s latest Premier League projections put Leeds in a strong position, with their chances of relegation now sitting at just over 1 per cent.
The supercomputer believes Leeds are now more or less safe, and that Tottenham are the club with a more than 49 per cent chance of going down.
West Ham are still in with more than a 39 per cent chance of getting relegated, and Nottingham Forest only have a 10 per cent chance of finishing in the bottom three.
For the moment, Leeds are being given the best chance of survival among the four teams who could finish in the last relegation spot in the Premier League table.
The Whites are one win away
Daniel Farke had asked his Leeds side to get something from Old Trafford, and they delivered in style with their first league win there in more than 45 years.
The manager looked both relieved and delighted at full-time, especially with the result opening up a six-point gap above the relegation zone with only six games left.

With survival within touching distance and an FA Cup semi-final still to come, there’s plenty for Leeds fans to look forward to in the weeks ahead.
