Sunday’s game between Leeds United and Chelsea was quite eventful, but not when it comes to the football on the day. The tie was decided by one goal in the first half of the game.

The Blues capitalized on the Whites’ high press and got a goal after Pedro Neto went past Pascal Struijk and found Enzo Fernandez in the box. Leeds pushed in the second half, but could not find the back of the net.

There were incidents in the game that were major talking points after the match. Dominic Calvert-Lewin escaped a red card after he pulled on Marc Cucurella’s hair just weeks after Lisandro Martinez was sent off for the same thing. After the game, journalists and pundits slammed Chelsea for deliberate time wasting in the second half.

Simon Jordan slams Leeds fans for Wembley chants

One negative thing that emerged from the game was that 16 Leeds United fans were reported for homophobic chanting in and around Wembley on Sunday. It was not a good look on the club, and Simon Jordan believes those involved should be punished and lose their jobs.

“I can’t answer the question why [they did it] because I don’t relate to their thinking.” he said on talkSPORT.

“If I could, it would be more concerning.

“I suspect you’d want a helicopter picture over top of them because they are not very bright, and once they get amongst fellow people who are not bright as well, they become very stupid together.

“And I’d imagine drinks come to it, along with ignorance, and they think it’s comedic, when it’s not comedic to make fun of someone’s sexuality as a harmless jibe.

“These guys are not very bright and only once they start losing their jobs will they understand the consequences of behaving like fools.”

Leeds fans have not been in the news for good reasons lately

Leeds United have a tremendous fanbase who will support the club unconditionally. This season, every game at Elland Road has been a battle for opponents; the crowd and atmosphere have been a big part of games there. Leeds’ home form is the reason that they could survive the league this season. But lately the club finds themselves among the headlines for the wrong reasons. Before the issue with the chants, they have been criticized for booing players during Ramadan, with the club having to produce a statement at a point.
