‘There will be a decision soon’ – Daniel Farke hints at imminent Leeds United contract resolution

Sunday will be the last day of the season for Leeds United. The Whites have had a very good campaign on their return to the top flight.

The team already ended their last home game of the season in style, beating Brighton with a goal in the final minutes of the game. Leeds will be away to West Ham on Sunday.

The Hammers are in serious trouble and will need a win and another result to go their way to avoid relegation.

Last Sunday, Daniel Farke made the decision to bring on Sam Byram in added time on what could be his final game for the club. The defender’s pass when he came on was intercepted, and lead to Calvert-Lewin’s winner.

Daniel Farke hints at Leeds United contract decision

Byram is out of contract in the summer, and he is not the only one. Currently Karl Darlow, Alex Cairns and Illan Meslier are also out of contract in the next few weeks.

When asked about the future of some players in last week’s press conference, Farke said decisions will be made at the end of the season.

And in Friday’s press conference before the West Ham game, he said the same. So fans will find out in the coming weeks.

”Not yet [clear] if I’m honest. I mentioned in my last press conference it was time to sit together and take decisions, we’ve started this. We have a couple of contracts running out decisions pretty soon not even in a few weeks time, maybe sooner. But nothing I want to confirm right now, once it’s confirmed then it’s up to the club to announce a few things.”

Likely outcomes for Sam Byram and Illan Meslier

When it comes to Illan Meslier, it is quite obvious that he will choose not to sign a new deal at Elland Road. Since the end of last season, it has been clear he is looking for a way out.

He was relegated to third choice keeper this season because Daniel Farke could not trust him.

Sam Byram might also be on his way out after his recent comments on his future.

It is all speculation at this point, and Leeds United could decide not to even offer them any new contracts. Fans will just have to wait and find out in the summer.
