Leeds United remain one of the worst attacking teams in the Premier League this season. The Whites have not been great in front of goal since the first game of the campaign.
In the summer, Leeds spent just £18 million on the attack, signing Noah Okafor on a permanent deal. The other two additions were Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha on free transfers. After 12 games this season, the club have 11 goals in total – the second worst record in the competition.
Fans complained in the summer when Leeds failed to sign any big-name attacker. The Whites were in for Rodrigo Muniz early in the window but failed to seal the deal. Daniel Farke was very vocal about adding quality up top, but Leeds failed to do so.
Leeds United join the race for striker Promise David
With January right around the corner, it would be the ideal time to add some reinforcements. Whether that will happen when Daniel Farke is still the manager is a different story. After losing to Aston Villa this weekend, Leeds have now lost five of their last six games in the Premier League. They are now in the relegation zone with an uphill task in their upcoming fixtures.
| Club | Games Played | Goals |
|---|---|---|
| Valletta | 14 | 4 |
| Sirens | 6 | 0 |
| Nõmme Kalju | 44 | 30 |
| Union Saint-Gilloise | 60 | 32 |
According to West Ham insider Claret & Hugh, the Hammers are in the race to sign Canadian international Promise David alongside Leeds United.
The striker has scored 24 goals in 46 appearances since joining Union Saint-Gilloise in 2024. The 24-year-old is reportedly valued at around £17 million ahead of the January window, with West Ham said to be very high on the player.
Major target could solve the goalscoring problem
Frankly, the signings of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha have not done enough, even with the German finding his goalscoring touch in consecutive games. This team does not look like they have enough goals in them, which is exactly why a player like Promise David would suit Leeds United.
| Player | Goals |
|---|---|
| Lukas Nmecha | 3 |
| Joe Rodon | 2 |
| Noah Okafor | 2 |
| Sean Longstaff | 1 |
| Brenden Aaronson | 1 |
| Anton Stach | 1 |
| Dominic Calvert-Lewin | 1 |
He is tall, fast and has a big frame, but he can find the net more consistently than the current options at Elland Road. A signing like that in January could be the spark this team needs to move up the table and avoid relegation.
Whether the ownership will be bold enough to splash the cash is a totally different conversation.
