It has been concerning that the players that lit up last season for Leeds United are having a slow start this ear.

Even though the team have been solid in the Premier League, recent results have seen some red flags. Jaka Bijol addressed the fact that the team could not turn draws into wins this early in the season.

And from the games, it is clear that the Whites can keep the best of opponents out, but struggle to score.

Just two goals in their last four games is a huge worry, considering that the attack failed to score in two of those four matches.

Leeds United made some changes to the attack that played last season.

The have lost Joel Piroe and Wilfried Gnonto but have replaced the Italian with Jean-Matteo Bahoya. Harry Wilson has also been a huge addition to the team, but is yet to find his feet.

Jean-Matteo Bahoya joined on deadline day however, Farke considers the youngster far from ready to make a consistent impact in attack.

This leaves Dan James as part of the depth on the bench this season; the winger had a terrible campaign last year, failing to score a goal or provide an assist. He has scored this season, but Farke’s words on Thursday point to a bleak future for the Welshman.

Because of his injuries, he is rarely fit and when he is available, there are complications. The Leeds boss said that James has to earn his spot in the squad.

Farke admitted: “It is crucial that he stays fit and trains with consistency now. It is his second full training week and each day is important for his belief and his body. It isn’t enough to just be available at this level, you also have to earn your spots to be in the squad or on the pitch.”

Farke added that Bahoya is now on his mind, hinting that the Frenchman is close to taking Dan James’ place in the pecking order.

“He was in my mind for our last game against Sunderland because I can see him improving day by day, but I decided in favour of Jean-Matteo Bahoya because he is a player of similar strength.”

Not a good sign for Dan James

Dan James was a very important part of the Leeds squad in their promotion campaign.

His run from January helped set the team up and the were able to get it across the line. The winger was very important in Farke’s system in the Championship which was based on transitions.

In the Premier League however, the team has changed its stle.

So James is in an awkward position, he will either have to adapt to a new role or get familiar with an unorthodox one, and as things stand he is way down the pecking order.
