“Battered them” – Agbonlahor praises dominant Leeds display against Nottingham Forest

Leeds United’s commanding display during yesterday evening’s 2-1 win against relegation rivals Nottingham Forest came down to a matter of “who wants it more” in the battle for Premier League survival.

That is according to TalkSPORT pundit Gabby Agbonlahor – who was full of praise for the Whites after they recorded a crucial victory.

The match didn’t begin in the manner Gracia – or the Elland Road faithful – would have liked as Forest took the lead through a 12th minute Orel Mangala strike.

Yet a spirited Leeds fightback was kick-started eight minutes later, when Jack Harrison tapped in Leeds’ equalizer on the rebound from an initial Marc Roca shot.

Leeds’ intense pressure for the rest of the half eventually told in stoppage time as Luis Sinisterra put the Whites 2-1 ahead.

Numerous opportunities to extend their lead were not taken by Gracia’s side in the game’s second half, leading to a tense finish which eventually saw Leeds take all three points.

The Premier League table is now much better reading for Whites supporters, as their side now sit 13th as opposed to 18th – the position they occupied before kick-off.

Leeds have now taken 10 points from a possible 18 under Gracia, including 3 wins over those in the relegation battle with them (Southampton, Wolves and Nottingham Forest).

For Agbonlahor, this impressive turnaround has been inspired by the spirit of the Leeds players, who appear to “want it more” than their opponents.

“It’s who wants it more. Who wants to stay up?,” Agbonlahor said, speaking live on TalkSPORT.

“Leeds want to stay up, they’re fighting at home.

“Forest went 1-0 up, Leeds battered them because they want to stay up.”

Leeds now prepare for another crunch clash against fellow strugglers Crystal Palace this Sunday, as they seek to further increase the distance between themselves and the bottom three.
