Leeds United’s recruitment team have earned praise for securing seven new players under £90m to strengthen a squad that finished 14th in the Premier League last season.
The Whites sorted out their goalkeeping position by spending a club-record fee for James Trafford, and Tarik Muharemovic has shown that he is an upgrade on Pascal Struijk.
Harry Wilson is expected to improve after a slow start to the season, and Leeds added more creativity to the forward line by signing Jean-Mateo Bahoya on deadline day.
However, a glaring weakness in the squad was not addressed as Leeds opted against signing a striker, despite being one of their priorities at the start of the transfer window.

Leeds still have the option of dipping into the free-agent market if they decide they need more firepower before January. There are a number of experienced forwards currently available, giving the Whites an opportunity to add to their attacking options outside the traditional transfer window.
One of the players offered to Leeds is former Manchester United forward Anthony Martial, who is currently without a club.
The Frenchman, now 30, is keen on a return to the Premier League and has already made his mark in England, scoring 63 goals across 209 top-flight appearances for Manchester United.
Martial’s representatives have been sounding out clubs around the Premier League about a potential move, with Leeds among the sides to have been approached.
He would be keen to return to the Premier League, but the forward now has a suitor in Spain.
According to Marca journalist Matteo Moretto, Malaga are considering snapping up the former Red Devil on a free transfer.
They are 18th in La Liga after losing two and drawing two of their first four league games.
Malaga are in the market for a versatile forward, and Martial, who previously played at Sevilla, is a player the club are looking at.
Leeds are rightly not interested in Martial
The Whites do need a striker, but Martial is not the answer to their problems at the moment. His best days at Manchester United are a distant memory.
He did little at Monterrey in Mexico last season, and there is a reason the club made an offer for a forward who was tipped as the next best thing a decade back.
Leeds need a forward who is ready to compete with Dominic Calvert-Lewin, and Martial is in no state to come back to Premier League football.
A return to Spain could suit him, but he is definitely not a player Leeds need.
