Leeds United drew 1-1 with Manchester United at Elland Road on Saturday after the buildup focused on the Red Devils’ struggles.
The Whites went in as favourites, partly because of their current form, but also because Manchester United have made a shocking start to the season.
However, the game was tighter than anyone expected, as Manchester United took the lead and Dominic Calvert-Lewin stepped up in the second half to score the goal that earned the home side a point.
The Leeds forward has been in pristine form at the start of the season, and one former Manchester United star was taken aback by Calvert-Lewin’s quality in the moment.

Dion Dublin lavished praise on Dominic Calvert-Lewin

The former Manchester United man insisted that, from the start, he was impressed by Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s body language and attitude.
He stressed that the physicality and quality he showed in scoring Leeds’ second-half goal showed he was firing on all cylinders.
Dublin stressed that from the off set it was clear that the Leeds striker was keen to make an impact.
He said on BBC’s MOTD: “I just think, from Calvert-Lewin’s body language, from what I’ve seen early on in the game, he just seems to be up for it.
“He held off Mbeumo with his left arm, he took it down with his chest, and he’s only six yards out, but you’ve got to control it. You’ve got to choose the right finish.
“I think he’s shown that he means business.”

Calvert-Lewin is Leeds’ talisman up front

His work rate also makes him a difficult opponent. Calvert-Lewin can stretch defensive lines, compete for aerial balls and give Leeds an outlet when they need to play forward under pressure. Those qualities matter in a side still finding its feet in the Premier League.
The next step is turning that all-round work into a consistent stream of goals. If Calvert-Lewin can marry his link-up play with regular finishes, he could become a hugely important player in Leeds’ campaign.
I’d update the assessment after his latest performance: Calvert-Lewin has now scored four Premier League goals in seven appearances, including against Manchester United on Sunday.
