Leeds United lost their first home game of the season this past weekend against Tottenham. Daniel Farke’s men experienced another narrow loss to a top team in the league.

Recent results have not gone the Whites’ way in the past few games. They lost courtesy of an own goal when they visited Fulham, and conceded a late goal to Bournemouth in the recent draw.

Against Spurs, Leeds had many chances to score but the attack failed to take their chances. Thomas Frank’s side needed just two opportunities to score to decide the game.

Aside the controversial refereeing, which had a lot of Leeds fans frustrated, there was another huge incident in the game. The FA are investigating objects being thrown at Tottenham stars Mohammed Kudus and Pedro Porro. Football finance expert Dan Plumley has said that there will most likely be a fine after the investigation is complete.

“That’s the risk you’re running,” Plumley told MOT Leeds News.

“You just can’t do it, and you know the club is going to get hit in the pocket, and you know that for multiple offences, the severity of those fines tends to go up.

“It’s the only way that the authorities can really deal with it, so we don’t want to see it, and we know it happens still, and there’s no other way it goes. If it carries on, that pound number on the fine number will get higher ultimately.”

The Whites seemed to have escaped any sanctions after arriving late to the match venue against Fulham.

Club must be cautious in later games

Leeds were involved in a lot of controversy involving referees in the Championship last season. And now just seven games into this new campaign, they are already involved in FA investigations. The Whites need to be walking a fine line as the season goes on in other to avoid more investigations and sanctions.

Daniel Farke’s side go into the international break with eight points from seven games. It could have been even more if the club’s attackers could find the back of the net.
