It emerged on Sunday that former Leeds United manager Paul Heckingbottom was sacked at Preston North End after a horror start to the season. However, one more ex-Whites coach lost his job this weekend.
Leeds are enjoying a period of remarkable stability under Daniel Farke, who has been in charge of the club since 2023 and won them promotion to the Premier League in 2025.
The 49ers have weathered a few storms to ensure that they do not make any wild decisions about Farke, and the Whites are now working towards a new deal for the Leeds boss.
However, a manager’s job across Europe comes with more than just uncertainty, and another former Leeds coach lost his job this weekend after Heckingbottom departed from Preston.

Former Leeds coach sacked by Spanish club
Carlos Corberan established himself as a respected figure in English football during his time at Leeds United, working with both the academy and first team before going on to manage Huddersfield Town and West Brom.
He returned to Spain in 2024 when he got the opportunity to become Valencia head coach, and was doing well in Spanish football until recently.
Corberan managed Largie Ramazani at Valencia last season, and the Spanish club wanted him back this summer. However, they never reached an agreement with Leeds.
They are rooted to the bottom of the league table after four defeats in their opening five La Liga games, and the club have swung the axe.
Valencia announced that they have sacked both head coach Corberan and sporting director Ron Gourlay on Sunday.
The 1-0 loss at Sevilla was the last nail in the coffin, and the former Leeds coach was shown the door over the weekend.

Corberan will bounce back
Corberan built up a decent reputation in the Championship before he returned to Spain with Valencia in 2024, and a return to English football is more than likely.
Several Championship clubs will be looking for new managers over the course of the season, with Preston already sacking Heckingbottom early in the campaign.
The young Spanish coach will soon receive an opportunity to return to English football as he remains an attractive option in the Championship.
His spell at Valencia was not disastrous but a poor start to the new season ultimately proved to be too much for the Spanish club to ignore.
