Leeds United kicked off their summer window in a big way by announcing the signing of Harry Wilson this week. Fans had been waiting for the Welshman’s arrival for over a week.

The deal was announced over a week ago, but the official unveiling took a few days.

Wilson arrives with Premier League experience and will be a great addition to Daniel Farke’s side. Last season, the midfielder had 11 goals and eight assists in all competitions.

His arrival marks the first major deal in this window.

So far the Whites have only sold Pascal Struijk, who joined Brighton and Hove Albion last week.

Graham Smyth provides update on Leeds United pursuit of Shea Charles

After Harry Wilson, Leeds United have a priority transfer target; Shea Charles.

The midfielder is said to be the deal that the club wants to get over the line very quickly. Southampton have rejected two bids from Leeds already as they feel it fell below their valuation.

On the Charles pursuit, Graham Smyth has revealed that the Whites are patient, and want to get the deal done.

“Delay Charles, we should call him because this one is taking time.” Smyth said on the Elland Road podcast.

“Leeds are obviously being very patient, and the reason for it is that they believe they can get a deal done.

“I don’t think there are any other clubs who are showing the level of interest that Leeds have, which means all the noise emanating from the south coast has failed to spark the kind of bidding war they wanted.

“If it becomes apparent to Southampton that Leeds are the only club really properly in for this player, that might focus their mind on let’s get to a number that works for both of us.

“Leeds’ position is that we want him, he is a very good player, but he has a valuation.”

49ers must get the deal across the line

Last summer, Leeds’ hesitation to sign a few targets was because of PSR.

This time around, the club know the valuation of their main target. Southampton want a good deal to sell Shea Charles and are willing to stick to it this in the summer window.

If the 49ers hesitate, Crystal Palace and Fulham could pounce – the two clubs are now in the race.

As things stand, if Leeds do not want to pay the fee for the midfielder, other clubs will. So it is up to the 49ers to get this across the line if they want to strengthen the team before next season.

Yes we are all impatient to finalise the acquisition of a young midfielder but we must meet the asking price whatever that may be. We can blame our negotiators but the other club and the player’s representatives may be partly responsible for the current impasse. I hope we sign him and he becomes a major success. In the meantime let’s calm our nerves and cross our fingers.

Same old 49ers. Locking onto ONE player so we get excited, only for the deal to never happen. Their transfer scam is out in the open now. False trails laid, then blame it on others. They think we are stupid. Wilson on a free and we’ve sold a player for peanuts. 49ers are grifters.
