Leeds United fans were excited when news broke about their transfer business early in the window. Harry Wilson and Julian Brandt were some of the first names linked with a move.
Last season the club was shopping in European leagues, buying quality players for low fees.
It paid off well as the Whites managed to get Premier League calibre players on very good deals. Anton Stach, Jaka Bijol and Dominic Calvert-Lewin were proper signings.
The fanbase were proven wrong by Calvert-Lewin in particular.
After all the complaints and criticisms of the window, it helped the club comfortably survive relegation.
Graham Smyth provides update on Julian Brandt pursuit
Leeds sources confirmed that Julian Brandt was a target very early in the window.
The former Borussia Dortmund star is a free agent this summer after ending a long stay with the Bundesliga club. The Whites have given the 30-year old an offer and are waiting for his decision.
Graham Smyth has given an update on the latest with the attacking midfielder.
”Let’s be honest. He’s been shopped around by his camp, by his dad. They’ve obviously explored a lot of options this summer.” Smyth said on the Inside Elland Road podcast.
”The cynic in me or maybe the realist in me says he’s waiting to drop upon a Champions League club but that thinks actually you know what we could do with a 10 or a Europa League club.”
He also touched on the reported interest from Real Sociedad.
”There’s this talk of a Real Sociedad being interested in him. Now, that that came out from an X account that purports to be a journalist covering La Real,
but it hasn’t been picked up by major outlets in San Sebastian. Also, they’re pretty well stocked for number 10s.”
”If they have anything in decent supply, it’s attacking center midfielders. And from what I’m told from somebody who has knowledge of the club and what they were looking for this summer, they were looking for more a winger/striker than a winger/10.”
”A winger/10 is obviously the profile that Leeds wanted last summer and they’ve got Harry Wilson in this summer.”
”Brandt would be more of a 10 than than either of those options but we’ll have to wait and see if this is a real thing in La Liga.”

Leeds need to make their demand
It has been weeks since the club were linked with a move for the German midfielder.
He has all the qualities to fit in this Leeds team and Daniel Farke is reportedly a big fan of him. The club could be looking to double down on a creative player in attack following the Harry Wilson deal.
But with the reported interest and the delay from Brandt’s end, it could go wrong for the 49ers.
Which is why Leeds need to give the 30-year old an ultimatum if he does want to join the club this season.
Fuck him
& fuck you
The trouble with the buyers is they hound one or two players to death and look no where else but those players do go else where. Then the day before the window closes they go for pot luck.
I suspect we have the only two that have come in and that’s it. We’ll be playing with one senior goalie and two from the U21’s this season. That is unless Perri stays I would not blame him if he goes, he’s been very professional pity that cannot be said of his management team.
It may be a blessing in disguise. Brandt has been a good player but is edging towards the end of his best years. The premier league is demanding and might be just too much for him to adapt to. Had he signed it would have been a big wage commitment for 3 years that would unsettle other Leeds players on less if he doesn’t live up to his best. No player is ‘free’ – no big transfer fee but big wages. Either way there is a price. A younger player with potential would be a better longer term option.
