Last summer, Leeds United spent over £100 million on 10 new players for the first team. That window saw the average cost of a player hover around £10 million.
It looked ”cheap” compared to signings made by other Premier League clubs, but the quality shone in the end.
Leeds snapped up the likes of Anton Stach, Noah Okafor and Jaka Bijol for less than £20 million each. These players all played a big part as the Whites survived relegation in their first season back in the top flight.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin joined on a free transfer, and helped the team massively with his 15 goals in all competitions.
This summer window has seen a bit more ambition from the 49ers as they continue to push to make the club a Premier League team.
Sporting director speaks about Leeds United transfer
Leeds United are set to make a big splash with a reported £40 million transfer for Manchester City keeper James Trafford.
£34 million has been splashed on Bosnian defender Tarik Muharemovic.
The former Sassuolo star comes in as a direct replacement for Pascal Struijk who joined Brighton. The Serie A club’s new sporting director Francesco Palmieri mentioned the new Leeds signing as he spoke about their summer plans.
“Kieron Bowie has arrived, but he still has to sign. Muharemovic left, there was a great opportunity for the boy, and then we had a very talented player who suffered a serious injury, [Ismael] Koné, which penalised the club and the boy in particular.” he told Tuttomercatoweb.
Palmierie then acknowledged that his club need to sell in order to stay afloat, and that they are proud of the talents that make the next step.
“We know we’ll have to approach Serie A, which will be extremely difficult, with great determination and a desire to do well, because this club has always strived to do well. We’re fortunate to have the Squinzi family, and we should be honoured because they’ve always provided great support.”
“This club has been a springboard for many, and it means a certain level of work has been done. We’ll continue on this path, knowing we have many strong players.”

Tarik Muharemovic has big shoes to fill
His price tag already shows how much belief the club have in him, and the Bosnian will have to prove it from day one.
Jaka Bijol was the marquee center back signing last summer, and he had to work his way into the lineup as the season progressed. Fans will be hoping that Muharemovic can hit the ground running very early.
The defender comes in to replace Pascal Struijk; a player the club was attached to.
Struijk rose up through the ranks and earned his place as a starter. It will not be easy to make the fanbase forget about the Dutchman so Tarik Muharemovic will have to be on his best game.
I firmly believe that Tarik Muharevic will be a massive hit ,,, and that’s from an avid Pascal Struijk fan.
