It was confirmed on Thursday that a player Leeds United were monitoring had joined another club. Graham Smyth revealed last week that the Whites had their eye on a center forward.
Levante striker Carlos Espi was on Leeds’ shortlist, but there was no plan to move for him.
Reports in Spain revealed that the 21-year old was set for a move, but his next club was a secret. His £21 million release clause also made him a valuable player to many clubs.
Real Madrid eventually announced his signing on Thursday night.
Which ultimately means the 49ers have to move on and focus on the next center forward on their target list.
Leeds United urged to make ”smart” signing
Former Premier League scout Mick Brown thinks that Burnley’s Zian Flemming could be be perfect signing for Leeds United this summer.
“…they have to be smart in the market as well, not every signing can be a superstar player, sometimes somebody will become available and that will be seen as an opportunity.” Brown told Football Insider.
“I think Zian Flemming is one of those types of players, it would be a smart signing for Leeds because it looks likely that he will leave Burnley.
“He scored plenty of goals in the Premier League last season and proved he can cut it at the top level, so when Leeds are looking for a striker, he is somebody who they have looked at.
“If they can get it done at a reasonable fee, maybe that will allow them to spend big on other areas of the squad that Farke wants to strengthen.”
The Dutchman managed to score 11 goals last season for a poor team that was eventually relegated. His goal record in the Championship was also decent; 34 goals in three seasons for Milwall and Burnley.

Zian Flemming would be a steal
Leeds United have already expressed interest in adding another center forward this summer.
The drop off in quality from Dominic Calvert-Lewin and the other options in attack has been quite alarming. Lukas Nmecha has shown flashes that he can play a role, while Joel Piroe is not in Farke’s good books.
A player like Zian Flemming would be the ideal signing for Leeds.
He is not old, and Burnley only signed him for around £7 million which means that the Whites could snap him up for a very low fee.
The club need more firepower next season, and should recruit for the position if the opportunity presents itself.
