“Joe Rodon is not…” – Gabby Agbonlahor delivers all-time bad Leeds United take

Leeds United fought hard for a 1-1 draw away at Tottenham on Monday night, a result that also kept West Ham’s survival hopes alive.

Mathys Tel put Spurs in front early in the second half, but Leeds hit back through Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who scored from the penalty spot after a lengthy VAR check.

Daniel Farke’s side nearly went on to snatch all three points late in the game as well, but Tottenham goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky produced a brilliant save from close range to deny Sean Longstaff.

Jamie O’Hara and James Maddison have railed against VAR for denying Spurs a penalty at the end of the game. However, probably the worst take has come from Gabby Agbonlahor.

Gabby Agbonlahor makes an astonishing Joe Rodon claim

The former Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor slammed the performance of Tottenham striker Richarlison against Leeds on Monday night.

He hammered the Brazilian and feels he is the slowest forward in the Premier League at the moment.

However, while criticising the Tottenham striker, Gabby Agbonlahor also insisted that Joe Rodon, who pocketed Richarlison on Monday night, lacked pace as a centre-back.

Agbonlahor said on talkSPORT: “I would put it out there that Richarlison is one of the slowest players in the Premier League. I would bet with anyone that Richarlison is the slowest player in the Premier League.

“The amount of times he ran through, and Joe Rodon, he is not a quick centre-half, got the ball out of him.

“Horrendous performance from him.”

It’s an incredibly bad take as pace is one of Rodon’s best attributes, which allows him to make recovery runs at the back and get Leeds out of trouble regularly.

Spurs were lucky on Monday night

Andy Goldstein may have criticised the quality of the game and claimed Leeds were fortunate, but many watching felt Tottenham were actually the team lucky to escape with a point.

Once Leeds found their equaliser, they looked the more likely side to go on and win it, and Spurs goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky had to make an outstanding stoppage-time save to stop Sean Longstaff grabbing a dramatic winner.

Simon Jordan noted that Leeds’ goal seemed to knock all the confidence out of Tottenham, while even Jamie O’Hara admitted Spurs were difficult to watch at times.

People can try to paint a different picture of the game, but Tottenham will know themselves they were fortunate to come away with a draw.
