Leeds went into Monday night’s game against Tottenham Hotspur knowing that they were mathematically safe from relegation. Roberto De Zerbi’s side on the other hand, were fighting for their place in the league.
West Ham losing on Sunday meant that Spurs could increase their gap at the bottom of the table. After two wins, the London side moved past the Hammers into 17th place. So there was a lot at stake heading into the game on Monday night.
The game had a very intense first half, with Tottenham pushing the away side. They created the best chances of the game, but were unable to find the back of the net. It was the second half that decided the result.
Simon Jordan makes keen observation in Leeds game
Mathys Tel gave his side the lead five minutes into the second half with a strike from just outside the box. The Spurs winger then gave away a penalty late in the second half, which Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored. The home side were nervous and on the back foot after the goal, but managed to escape with the draw.
Simon Jordan pointed out how poorly the away side played once they had conceded the equalizer.
“After Leeds scored, Spurs completely looked like the air went out of the team.” he said on talkSPORT.
“They looked completely bereft of any confidence, and they were bloody lucky to get out of the game with a point in their hands.
“In my view, the goalkeeper may have kept them in the Premier League with that [Sean Longstaff] save.
“But they are a poor side, and it was papering over cracks.”

Daniel Farke’s side show fight once again
In what has been the theme of this season, this Leeds United side continue to fight no matter the game they play. They have managed to get result against better sides simply because they refuse to give up in games. Going down 1-0 at home to Spurs would have seen other teams crumble, but the Whites managed to fight back and get a point. Simon Jordan was right; after their goal, Leeds could have gotten a win with how aggressive they were in the final minutes of the game. Many pundits though the team would be relaxed ahead of facing Spurs, but they showed up and picked up a point to continue their unbeaten run.
