With Leeds United appearing set to stay in the Premier League and only three matches remaining, attention is already starting to turn towards the summer transfer window.

There’s also an awareness within the club that the hard work can’t stop there, especially with a second season in the top flight often being even more demanding and requiring major investment.

Leeds are already working behind the scenes on plans to strengthen the squad, identifying key positions to improve and drawing up a list of targets ahead of the summer.

The Whites are looking at several midfielders ahead of the summer, and the Premier League’s financial power has given them an edge in the race for one free transfer deal.

Leeds to flex their financial muscle for Bilal Nadir

The Yorkshire giants are one of several clubs interested in Marseille midfielder Bilal Nadir ahead of the summer transfer window.

The midfielder is set to become a free agent when his contract expires in June, meaning he could leave the Ligue 1 club without a transfer fee.

Africa Foot has confirmed that the midfielder has decided to move on from the French giants once his contract expires at the end of next month.

Several European clubs are interested in getting their hands on the midfielder, and he and his representatives are ready to make the most of the financial opportunity.

Strasbourg are closely tracking the France-born Morocco Under-23 international, while Spanish sides Girona and Villarreal are also keeping tabs on the midfielder’s situation.

Leeds are the interested party from the Premier League, and the league’s financial power has handed them an edge in the race to sign him.

His representatives are seeking a net salary of around £1m per year along with a signing-on bonus of roughly £2.1m, and Leeds should be in a position to meet those demands.

The Whites have other targets

Nadir is viewed as a talented young defensive midfielder who could prove to be a smart value signing. That said, Leeds are also targeting some more established names ahead of the summer window.

The club have admired Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney for a long time and are expected to make a move if Boro fail to win promotion this season.

Leeds are also interested in João Gomes from Wolves, although competition from bigger Premier League and European clubs could make that deal difficult.

While Leeds are open to snapping up bargains, they are also prepared to spend heavily if the right top-level targets become available.
