There was a lot of movement at the bottom of the Premier League this weekend, as Leeds United strolled to a win over Burnley.
Daniel Farke’s side picking up three points at Elland Road now sees them at 43 points this campaign. And that is a very good omen, as clubs that have hit the mark have not been relegated in the last five seasons.
But the team is not mathematically safe and that message has been relayed to the players. After scoring in the 3-1 win against Burnley, Noah Okafor revealed that the club have had one mindset in this relegation battle. They have not cared about other results and have only played to win. And this has paid off as the Whites have gone six games unbeaten in the league.
With three games left in the campaign, the club will possibly only need one more result or for other teams to slip up to confirm their place in the competition next season.
Alan Shearer drops major relegation verdict involving Leeds United
As things stand, it is likely that West Ham and Spurs will battle to escape the third and final spot in the relegation zone. Leeds United’s recent form has seen them move clear of the two clubs. But the Whites still have a huge part to play in this race; they face both Spurs and the Hammers in their final games of the season.
Daniel Farke’s men will travel to London on Monday night in a crucial match for Roberto De Zerbi’s side. Alan Shearer has shared his outlook on the situation as Leeds could potentially decide who gets relegated in the coming weeks.
“So, Leeds are going to play a huge part in who goes down between Spurs and West Ham.” he said on the Rest is Football podcast.
“Wow.
“I think West Ham’s best chance of getting three points is that home game against Leeds.
“Whether that’s going to be enough, I don’t know.”

Leeds are focused on themselves
Just like Noah Okafor mentioned, the team are only focused on themselves. And this is a very good thing heading into the final games of the season. Daniel Farke has gotten this team on the right track with the right mentality. The aim is now to finish the season on a high and get as many points as possible to carry momentum into the next campaign. This year has been a relative success, with an FA Cup semi-final and surviving relegation. Fans will most likely experience another season of top flight football come August.
