Shay Given drops Tottenham vs Leeds claim ahead of clash: “Close to the trap door”

Leeds United are all but safe now after moving onto 43 points with Friday’s win over Burnley, putting them in a really strong position to stay in the Premier League.

Daniel Farke has tried to keep everyone grounded until survival is officially confirmed, although Leeds could secure their status even before next Monday’s trip to Tottenham.

Even so, the game in north London could still have huge consequences. A Spurs win may be enough to guarantee their own safety, but if Leeds come away with something, Tottenham could be pulled back into the relegation fight.

Tottenham’s win over Aston Villa helped them to climb out of the relegation zone. However, Shay Given has fired a warning at Tottenham ahead of the Leeds clash.

Shay Given drops a warning ahead of the Tottenham vs Leeds fixture

The former Newcastle United goalkeeper insisted that Spurs are not out of the woods despite the big win over Aston Villa last weekend.

He stressed that the Tottenham players are still under immense pressure given their position in the league, and they are still in with a huge chance of dropping out of the Premier League.

Given insisted that the Leeds game next is one of the three tricky fixtures Spurs still have to negotiate before they can feel safe at the end of the season.

Given said on BBC Radio 5 Live: “They don’t want to be the players to relegate Tottenham – one of the biggest clubs in the league.

“They are very close to the trap door; there is no getting away from it.

“Yes, it was a big result [against Aston Villa], but they have to go again.

“Leeds next, Chelsea away and then anything can happen against Everton at home.

“There are still tricky fixtures.”

The Whites won’t go easy on Spurs

Leeds United could have Premier League survival wrapped up before they even face Tottenham on Monday, but Daniel Farke’s side will still have plenty to play for.

A Supercomputer has made a bizarre prediction for the game next week. However, it is going to be anything but straightforward for Spurs.

Leeds were beaten by Tottenham at Elland Road earlier this campaign in a game they felt they should have taken something from, so there’s definitely a feeling of unfinished business ahead of the return fixture.

West Ham, meanwhile, will be hoping Leeds can help their own survival hopes by taking points off Spurs.

At the same time, Roberto De Zerbi could be hoping Leeds ease off a little if their top-flight status is already confirmed before kick-off.
