Leeds United have several players spending the season away from Elland Road, but their loan spells have produced mixed results. While some are making progress, others are struggling to convince their temporary clubs they deserve a regular place.

There has also been a major change in the dugout at one of those clubs, which could significantly affect the future of a Leeds forward. His situation is particularly interesting given the financial implications of the agreement between the two clubs.

Elsewhere, one of Leeds’ younger attackers is struggling to make an impression in Italy, while two other departures are facing important months in their respective loan spells.

Joel Piroe: New manager, fresh opportunity

West Ham have sacked Nuno Espirito Santo and appointed Scott Parker, giving Joel Piroe a new manager to impress as he attempts to revive his season.

The Dutchman has scored three goals in 12 Championship appearances but had lost his place in the starting line-up before the managerial change. Parker’s first game in charge offered some encouragement, with Piroe introduced at half-time against Cardiff City.

West Ham were 3-0 down when he came on, but the Leeds loanee helped spark their recovery by flicking on Jarrod Bowen’s pass for Arne Engels to score their second goal in a remarkable 3-3 draw.

Piroe will hope that contribution earns him greater involvement under Parker. Leeds also has a financial incentive, with West Ham reportedly obliged to sign him for around ÂŁ8m if they win promotion. They currently occupy eighth place, the final play-off position.

Wilfried Gnonto: Fiorentina spell going nowhere

The situation is considerably less encouraging for Wilfried Gnonto. The 22-year-old has struggled to establish himself at Fiorentina, making seven Serie A appearances but starting only once.

His only goal came in the Coppa Italia, and he has yet to register a league goal or assist. Fiorentina manager Paolo Vanoli has backed him, but Gnonto needs to translate that support into better performances and more regular involvement.

Leeds reportedly included an ÂŁ18m option to buy in the loan agreement. Given his limited impact and the financial constraints facing Italian clubs, Fiorentina may be reluctant to commit that amount. An early termination of the loan in January cannot be ruled out if things do not improve.

Lucas Perri: Torino yet to be convinced

Lucas Perri’s move to Torino has also produced mixed results. The Brazilian goalkeeper has shown his ability but has struggled for consistency, leaving questions over whether the Serie A side will make his move permanent.

Torino have an option to buy, but spending around ÂŁ12m could prove difficult given their financial limitations and Perri’s inconsistent performances.

Even if he returns to Leeds, a future at Elland Road looks unlikely. James Trafford is the undisputed number one, while Perri may not want to spend another season as his understudy. Leeds could look to find him another club next summer.

Largie Ramazani: Burnley move progressing

Largie Ramazani has arguably given Leeds the most encouraging loan development outside Piroe’s recent contribution.

The winger scored for Burnley in their 1-1 draw against QPR, providing another positive moment in a spell that could eventually lead to a permanent departure from Elland Road.

His season-long loan reportedly includes an obligation to buy linked to a specified number of appearances. Ramazani will need to keep featuring and contributing if that clause is to be triggered.

For Leeds, a successful loan would provide a welcome financial outcome and help resolve the future of a player who has moved on in search of regular opportunities.
