It was an unpleasant night for Leeds United fans on their trip to Stamford Bridge. The Whites had a poor game and it could have been worse with a player escaping an incident in the second half.
Daniel Farke’s men took the lead in the first half through Tarik Muharemovic.
Until that point, the away side were firmly in the game and held their own against a very quality Chelsea side. Brenden Aaronson then doubled the lead just minutes into the second half.
The Whites were only able to hold on for so long as Chelsea mounted a comeback.
Alonso’s men managed to score six goals in 45 minutes to turn the tie around and advanced to the next round.

After Leeds United scored their second goal, things went quickly from bad to worse.
Chelsea were awarded a penalty, with Cole Palmer calmly slotting the ball home to begin the comeback. Palmer then scored his second goal of the night just two minutes after his first.
Danny Welbeck scored a brace, and Pedro Neto and Valentin Barco were all on the scoresheet in a thumping victory for the home side.
Leeds were not able to get a grip on the game in the second half, and the home side dominated throughout. Things could have gotten worse for Daniel Farke’s men before the end of the game.

Harry Wilson got into a confrontation with Blues midfielder Valentin Barco.
The Argentine was on the floor, with Wilson going to pick up a ball for a throw in. The Leeds star seemed to deliberately drag his knee which made contact with the back of Barco’s head.
Barco complained to referee Jarred Gillett, who deescalated the situation and did not hand out a card.

FA could take retrospective action on incident
Jarred Gillett did not give Wilson a card, and since VAR was not available for the League Cup game, the incident was not reviewed.
But the Leeds star could still face punishment. If the FA deems his action as violent conduct, they could review the match footage and give the midfielder a ban if necessary.
Barco exaggerated contact, but Wilson’s knee did brush his head.
Leeds would have been in trouble if VAR was in the stadium; they got might have gotten away with one on Wednesday night.
Chelsea were exaggerating contact all night. Any time there was physical contact, they rolled around clutching both shins, regardless of where the contact (if any) occurred. This must have been deliberate coaching, as all players did the exact same thing.
if var was there they would not have had a penalty and the momentum of the game would have carried on with Leeds in charge, Chelsea were not up for the fight before that. funny how that’s not in the report above someone must have seen the game through blues only.
Wish Wilson had given that soulless ginger stepchild a proper dig.
Take your blue tinted glasses off pal. Barco and others were looking for it throughout the game. Made a meal of every contact. Your own report says that Wilson’s knee “brushed” Barco’s head. That doesn’t really square with the dramatic reaction of the drama queen in the blue shirt. Nothing to see here.
