Leeds United manager Daniel Farke is looking to bring in more reinforcements in the winter transfer window. But the club are unlikely to spend big mid-season.

Farke recently insisted Leeds won’t bend the Premier League’s financial rules to speed up their development, amid talk that the club could qualify for Europe this season.

Leed are walking a tightrope to meet the Premier League’s Squad Cost Ratio rules, but the club are looking at market opportunities to secure reinforcements in the winter window.

Farke wants to address issues in their squad, and the club are now looking to finalise a cut-price deal to bring in a new left-back in January.

Leeds line up cut-price move for new left-back

According to Football Insider, Leeds are hoping to finalise a cut-price deal to sign Porto left-back Zaidu Sanusi in the January transfer window.

The Whites have been keeping tabs on the defender for the last year and have tried to sign him in the last couple of transfer windows.

However, with Sanisu’s contract expiring at the end of the season, January is Porto’s last chance to earn a fee from his departure before he leaves on a free next summer.

Leeds have received encouragement that they could finalise a cut-price move to take Sanisu to Elland Road in the winter transfer window.

The 29-year-old left-back has Champions League experience, and the club believe he can add real quality mid-season.

Daniel Farke only wants to bring in players in January if he believes they can improve on the players he already has in his squad.

What happens to Melvin Bard?

If Leeds United sign Zaidu Sanusi in January, it could end Melvin Bard’s hopes of a permanent move to Elland Road. The Whites can sign the Frenchman when his loan expires, but his lack of involvement under Daniel Farke hardly strengthens his case.

Bard has made just one substitute appearance in the Premier League this season, leaving serious questions about whether he features in the manager’s long-term plans. With so little game time, it is difficult to see Leeds committing further money to a player who has barely had the chance to make an impression.

Sanusi would give Farke another left-back option and potentially provide the depth Leeds need for the second half of the campaign. However, bringing in another player in the same position would make Bard’s situation even more complicated.

Unless his role changes significantly, Leeds may decide to look elsewhere rather than activate their option to buy.

i think our priorities righ now is a striker who knows where the goal is.for years we were without a genuine left back now sites like this are proposing a glut of them.i’ve got a better idea go and find us a genuine goal scorer who can hit the deck running instead of prining rubbish for the sake of it.
