Leeds United look as though they may lose out on one of their summer transfer targets to another Premier League rival.
In order to ensure the exceptional job Daniel Farke has done this season does not go to waste, the 49ers will know that they must give the German plenty of funds to strengthen his squad again in the summer.
This would further bridge the gap between United and the likes of Coventry, who will be joining them in the top flight next season.
However, one player that Leeds reportedly have their eye on could very well be lining up against them next season.
Leeds “approached” over potential Harvey Elliott signing
Elliott, 23, is currently in the midst of a disastrous loan spell at Aston Villa from Liverpool, with the playmaker falling out of favour with Unai Emery.
The midfielder has frequently been left on the bench by Emery, so he has not reached 10 appearances for Villa, which would mean they have to make his loan move permanent for a £35million fee.
But with Elliott also having no future at his parent club, Liverpool, a recent report from TEAMtalk suggests that Leeds have been one of the clubs approached to sign the youngster.
Whilst a deal for Elliott is not said to be a priority for Leeds, with their focus instead on signing a new goalkeeper, striker and left-sided defender, the Whites have seemingly been dealt a major blow in their pursuit of the player.
The report also claims that Elliott’s representatives have already been in contact with other clubs, such as Brighton and Brentford, over a potential move, with both clubs potentially being able to offer Elliott European football, meaning the competition for his signature will likely be fierce should Leeds ramp up their interest further in the summer.

Data suggests signing Harvey Elliott would be a huge gamble for Leeds
Whilst Elliott does undoubtedly possess quality as well as the ability to play out on the right as well as in midfield, similarly to Brenden Aaronson, it would certainly be a risk on Leeds’ end if they chose to sign him this summer.
- This season at Villa, Elliott has played a total of just 117 minutes in the Premier League across five appearances, with just one of those being a start
- The season prior at Liverpool, Elliott made 18 Premier League appearances, but just two of those were starts as he was limited to just 399 minutes
- The last time Elliott started 10 or more Premier League games was back in the 2023/24 campaign (Sofascore)
For Leeds to fork out a sizeable fee for Elliott, even if it is less than the £35million Villa were quoted last summer, it would still be a major risk for the Whites given the youngster’s lack of gametime in recent seasons.
Unless Farke is insistent that he wants to bring Elliott to Elland Road, Leeds may be better shifting their attention to other targets this summer.
