Leeds United blamed for loanee’s alarming form

Lucas Perri left Leeds United on loan this summer to join Torino. The decision was basically made for him when the 49ers targeted James Trafford as their marquee transfer.
With Trafford in goal, Perri would have no chance at being number one and thus he chose a move away.
But the Brazilian has had a very surprising start to life in Turin. His first two games saw him make errors that lead to goals, and the media have been on his back ever since his first start.
Thursday’s print edition of Tuttosport is reporting that Torino believe the keeper’s lack of form is Leeds’ fault.
Since Perri did not play much in 2026, he has lacked the sharpness and awareness needed in the team. The report from the newspaper also adds that the 28-year old is undergoing personal training sessions to help him improve.
Torino boss Ignazio Abate want the keeper to improve physical and technically, with the international break proving to be the perfect opportunity.

Lucas Perri’s future is in his own hands
Torino pursued the Brazilian because they needed a first choice keeper this season. The Italian club did a lot and were willing to fight with Marseille to sign the Leeds keeper.
He is someone they see as a future investment, but his start to life may have drawn red flags.
From now till the end of the season, it is up to Perri to perform to an acceptable level for the team to think about triggering his buy option.
But if he continues on his current path, it is unlikely he gets a move next summer. And with Leeds having signed a backup keeper in the previous window, Perri could be stuck in a difficult position.
