Leeds United clash could spell the end for Pierre Sage at Crystal Palace

The stability Leeds United have enjoyed under Daniel Farke has been a key reason for their rise in the Premier League since last season.

Farke was under pressure early last season after a dreadful run of form. However, the 49ers showed patience, and Farke turned things around dramatically.

The 49ers also ignored calls to replace the German once Leeds earned promotion, as his record in the Premier League with Norwich City was poor.

Farke has enjoyed a remarkable period of stability at Leeds in an age where managers get sacked far too early, and the Leeds boss could inflict the final blow on a colleague later today.

Pierre Sage is under huge pressure at Crystal Palace

Palace appointed Sage in the summer to replace Oliver Glasner, who left Selhurst Park at the end of last season. However, the Frenchman is struggling.

The Eagles have lost three of their opening four Premier League games, conceding 11 goals. He won in the third round of the EFL Cup, and Palace also beat Lech Poznan 4-0 in their opening Europa League game.

However, Palace’s league form is a major concern for the hierarchy, and real pressure is now on the Frenchman ahead of today’s big game against Leeds.

According to journalist Alan Nixon, the club are seriously considering replacing Sage during the international break.

A defeat at Elland Road today could spell the end of the French coach at Selhurst Park, as he could get sacked this early in the season.

A final decision has not been made, as Steve Parish needs a viable candidate lined up before sacking Sage.

The Frenchman could still save his job with a positive result at Leeds, but a defeat may bring the axe down on him at Palace.

Too early to sack a manager

A few managers are already under pressure after a few Premier League games, and there is already talk of them getting sacked ahead of the first break.

Roberto De Zerbi is under pressure at Tottenham after Spurs lost to Aston Villa at home on Saturday, and Michael Carrick could be under real stress if Manchester United do not get a result at Fulham later today.

However, Pierre Sage could be the one sacked if his Palace side lose at Elland Road today.

But it is too early to sack a manager regardless of the results. The Frenchman is new in England and should be afforded more time to get things right.

However, the pressure of avoiding relegation at a club like Palace is too big to ignore a poor start to the season.
