Leeds United now have little choice but to bring in another striker after allowing Joel Piroe to join West Ham, with Daniel Farke needing more options alongside Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
The former Everton forward enjoyed an excellent first season at Elland Road, scoring 14 league goals and playing a major role in Leeds securing their Premier League status. But when Calvert-Lewin struggled in front of goal, the Whites often lacked another reliable forward who could step up and ease the pressure on him.
Piroe’s departure has only made that issue more obvious, making another centre-forward one of Leeds’ biggest priorities before the transfer window closes. Farke needs someone who can genuinely challenge Calvert-Lewin for a starting place while also giving him the option of playing the pair together when needed.
The new striker must also be capable of leading the line on his own when Calvert-Lewin is unavailable. With Piroe gone, Leeds simply cannot afford to go into the new Premier League season without adding another quality option up front.

Leeds United decide on striker target
The Yorkshire giants are keen to bring in a striker before the transfer window closes next Tuesday, and the club are working on a few options.
It emerged on Tuesday that Leeds have been in talks to sign RB Leipzig striker Conard Harder, who is no longer in their plans this season.
Leipzig signed Harder for a deal worth £22m last year, but he scored just four times in all competitions last season.
Leeds have all the data on the forward as he is part of the Red Bull Group, and he is one of the names on their shortlist ahead of the summer transfer window.
However, according to The Yorkshire Post, Leeds are not currently pursuing a deal to sign the forward before the end of the transfer window on Tuesday.
The Whites checked on his availability and enquired. However, they have decided against trying to sign the forward in the coming days.
Leeds have other strikers on their shortlist and are working hard to line up a deal that would see them sign support for Calvert-Lewin.
Who could Leeds sign in the coming days?
Leeds need a striker, but they are quickly running out of options and time to bring in a new forward before the transfer window closes.
They had their eyes on Liam Delap, but Nottingham Forest have secured a deal to sign the Chelsea striker for a whopping £50m.
Leeds have also been linked with a move for Zian Flemming, who is yet to leave Burnely despite the expectation of finding a new club this summer.
He scored 11 Premier League goals in 21 starts for a team that suffered relegation, and Leeds are among the clubs who are looking to snare him away from Burnely.
Flemming also has suitors amongst Champions League clubs, and Burnely are worried about losing him before Tuesday’s transfer deadline.
