Leeds United have had to part ways with a lot of players this summer. The plan was to build on the additions made to the first team last year in hopes of continuing their top flight stay.
Daniel Farke’s side managed to finish in 14th in the Premier League, and will aim to replicate that this season.
Leeds have ‘cleared house’ in this transfer window, offloading a number of unwanted players.
Isaac Schmidt, Max Wober, Jack Harrison and Joe Gelhardt have all officially left Elland Road in the last couple of weeks. Some were sold, with the club getting decnet fees, while others were released.
Wober’s contract was terminated, as his market value had drastically fallen.
Out of the three players offered a new contract at Elland Road at the end of last season, only one remained; Alex Cairns.
Daniel Farke confirms Leeds United exit
Karl Darlow joined Manchester United, and Illan Meslier was not given a new contract. Sam Byram was offered a new deal, but the latest update reveals that he rejected the offer.
Reports emerged on Monday that Sam Byram is set to join Championship side Middlesbrough.
When asked about Byram, Daniel Farke confirmed in Monday’s press conference that the defender had made his choice.
”Sam Byram is always in my head because I love him as a player and a human being. You know how much I rate him.”
”Also a fact he has reached a special age. No secret he did not get that much game time last year. He is exploring his options.
”We wish him all the best, and we will see his decision. Still has a lot to offer.”
Byram played just five games in all competitions last season.

Most of the focus will be on the arrivals and potential targets, but Leeds have done a great job with the squad overall.
10 new players joined last season, which greatly improved the team.
But on the other side, it left some players without a role going forward under Farke. This summer has seen a lot of those players offloaded; the likes of Max Wober, Isaac Schmidt and Joel Piroe.
Leeds now have the squad space to push for some new additions before the deadline.
Fans should also be braced for a few exits if the right offers come in.
