Joel Piroe finished as the top scorer for Leeds United during their promotion campaign. However, there were serious doubts if he could replicate that form in the top flight.
Leeds were linked with many ‘big’ name strikers that summer.
Unfortunately for the club, the deals either never happened or the bids were rejected. Lukas Nmecha was the first signing of the window, and fans were not all that pleased with his arrival.
And when Dominic Calvert-Lewin was signed before the deadline, the concerns grew louder.
Leeds fans were skeptical about two injury prone players being their first choice options going into the season. However, things worked out fine as the duo ended up as top scorers in all competitions.
Leeds United star close to summer exit
But the Leeds United fanbase never fully trusted Nmecha and Calvert-Lewin at the start.
Early in the season, the team went on a goal drought, which lead to some supporters calling for young Harry Gray to start games. The teenager had only made one first team appearance in the Championship before that point.
Gray only made a few matchday squads, but mainly played with the U21s.
In January, he sought out a loan to Rotherham. He had a bright start, but it became more difficult as the season went on. The striker finished with three goals and an assist in 20 appearances.
The YEP have now confirmed that Harry Gray is set for a loan this summer.
He will join Sheffield Wednesday in League One, with both clubs set to close the deal in the coming days. Gray will be reunited with Liam Cooper, who spent years at Elland Road.

What this means for the Whites this summer
Harry Gray’s loan deal may be initially seen as a normal move, but it tells a lot ahead of this season.
It most likely means that the club will add a center forward this summer. As things stand, the only first team options will be Lukas Nmecha, Joel Piroe and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Per recent reports, Piroe is likely to leave after falling down the pecking order.
The club will look to move him on, as he enters the final 12 months of his contract.
Going into next season with just two first team strikers would not be ideal, so it is almost guaranteed that the 49ers will splash the cash on a center forward in this summer window.
