This summer is going to be a huge one for Leeds United, the club will have a lot of decisions to make when it comes to transfers. The Whites recruited 10 new players last summer.

And Daniel Farke also made the decision to let a handful of first team stars depart. Isaac Schmidt, Max Wober, Largie Ramazani, Joe Gelhardt and Mateo Joseph all left on temporary deals. And with how things are looking so far, all of them will return to Elland Road.

Depending on what happens between now and the end of the season, Leeds may end up keeping or selling some of these players. However, most of them have struggled out on loan which will make negotiations difficult.

Leeds United man ruled out for the season with knee injury

Mateo Joseph felt he was ready for first team football coming off of the European U21 championship. He decided to refuse to join pre-season camp, and the club sorted out a move away for him. The forward joined Mallorca, who trusted him with a lot of minutes from the start of the season.

Mallorca | Games, Goals, Assists
Competition Games Played Goals Assists
La Liga 29 2 3
Copa del Rey 1 0 0
Total 30 2 3

Joseph did not exactly make a huge impact, but has been a consistent starter for the La Liga side. But his season has now come to an end as Mallorca reported that he is set to undergo surgery on his left knee. This will rule out Joseph for the rest of the season, and this now poses a huge problem for the attacker’s future.

Injury affects summer plans

With Mateo Joseph now injured, it affects a lot of plans going forward. The forward is not expected to be in Daniel Farke’s future plans, and so the likely option for him this summer was to leave the club. His loan spell at Mallorca has been able to impress the Spanish side, who were reportedly set to explore potentially extending his stay. Joseph himself has admitted that the prospect of remaining in La Liga is something he has considered.

Now that his season has been cut short, it may ruin plans of Mallorca signing him. Other clubs will also have to pause plans to see what happens with the injury. This would be a huge blow to Leeds United, especially as the club rejected a huge bid last summer.
