After a difficult run of form, Leeds United have suddenly burst into life. The Whites surprised everyone on Monday night when they managed to get a result at Old Trafford.

Michael Carrick’s side had lost just one game in their last five before facing Leeds. The Red Devils had European aspirations and were looking to strengthen their grip on third place. Unfortunately for them, they were completely outplayed by Daniel Farke at Old Trafford.

Leeds United flew off the blocks quickly and made their intent known – after five minutes they had already scored through Noah Okafor. The winger doubled the Whites’ lead over 20 minutes later. Those two goals were enough to secure the three points, despite the home side trying to mount a comeback in the second half.

Simon Jordan takes jab at Leeds United after Old Trafford win

Roy Keane gave full credit to Daniel Farke for managing a huge win on Monday night, and Jamie Carragher praised the first half performance. Simon Jordan was critical of how Leeds United celebrated their win at Old Trafford after the game.

“It’s a great result.” Jordan said on talkSPORT.

“I am always quizzical of the modern-day footballers who spend all their time winning a football match.

“I used to think, you won a football match and bang, on to the next one because that’s what you are paid to do.

“There they are at the end of the game, celebrating for 20 minutes like they won the European Cup.”

If anything, Manchester United did not take the defeat well, with Michael Carrick criticizing the refereeing.

Leeds have every right to celebrate win

Simon Jordan is wrong, Leeds United have every right to celebrate how they did on Monday night. It was their first win at Old Trafford since 2010, it was a huge achievement and something the away fans definitely enjoyed. And most importantly, the result has now decreased the pressure on the coach and players – they are now six points above the relegation zone.

The Whites need the confidence going into the rest of their games, with a huge home tie against Wolverhampton Wanderers next. If Daniel Farke manages to guide this team to safety, Monday night’s result could be the turning point. Before beating Michael Carrick’s side, Leeds had not won a league game since beating Nottingham Forest at Elland Road in February.
