Leeds United picked up a huge 2-1 win at Old Trafford against Manchester United on Monday night, moving six points clear of the relegation zone.
It was their first league victory there in over 45 years, and it could prove to be a big moment in their fight to stay in the Premier League.
Noah Okafor made the difference with two goals in a dominant first-half display, with Leeds creating enough chances to score even more.
Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville has managed to find a way to excuse the home side’s horrible first-half performance against Leeds on Monday night.
Gary Neville reveals what helped Leeds against Manchester United
Manchester United could have been four down at half-time if Leeds had been more clinical inside the penalty box, coupled with the way they dominated the home side.
It was the Red Devils’ first game in more than three weeks, and Gary Neville feels that not playing for so long definitely upset their rhythm and affected the performance.
He believes Leeds were helped by the fact that Manchester United looked undercooked and lacked match rhythm because of their light fixture load.
“I am not going to make excuses for Manchester United”, Neville said on his podcast for Sky Sports.
“But a combination of being undercooked, not playing for so long; I don’t know how many games they have played in the last couple of months, it’s not a lot.
“It has been a strange period generally with the fixtures.”
Daniel Farke won’t care
Daniel Farke challenged his Leeds side to get something from Old Trafford, and they came away with their first league win at the ground in more than 45 years.
The Leeds manager looked delighted and relieved after Leeds opened up a six-point buffer over the relegation zone with six games left in the season.

There is a real chance that another win over Wolves at home on Saturday could end up guaranteeing them Premier League survival this season.
Farke won’t care how his team won at Old Trafford as the three points will go a long way in defining their season.
Premier League survival and an FA Cup semi-final on the horizon, Leeds fans now have a lot to look forward to in the final month or so of the season.
