Leeds United’s injury woes are not leaving them, and they have suffered another major injury blow in the penultimate game of the season.
The last home game of the season should have been a joyful occasion for players and the Leeds fans since Premier League survival has already been secured.
Leeds played a Brighton team who are still chasing European football, and there was an edge to the game despite the cagey nature of the affair at Elland Road.
However, the occasion turned sour for Leeds after they suffered a major injury in the form of midfielder Anton Stach, who was carried off on a stretcher.
Anton Stach sustains major injury
In the 74th minute, the German midfielder was carried off on a stretcher after he suffered a major leg injury that looked serious at first glance.
His socks were bloodied, and he hid his face with his shirt, indicating that he was afraid that he could be out of action for a considerable period of time.
The Leeds players and the bench looked considered, and while it is not a major problem for Leeds, as they have only one league game left in the season.
However, Farke would not want his top midfielder to be out of action for months, as that could disrupt the start of the 2026/27 season.
For Stach, it is a huge blow just a few weeks ahead of the World Cup, and the injury could end his dreams of representing his nation this summer.
He has been brilliant this season
Leeds pulled off a major coup when they convinced Stach to ignore offers from clubs with European football to move to Elland Road last summer.
He has been a brilliant signing for Leeds, and his stature and presence in the midfield made the Whites one of the hardest teams to beat in the Premier League.
Stach’s set-piece deliveries and ability to shoot from distance added a different flavour to the Leeds team in the Premier League.
However, his World Cup dreams now hang in the balance after his latest injury.
